Who is Charlotte Rae?

Charlotte Rae was an American actress and singer who gained recognition for her work in television and film. Rae was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 22, 1926, and began her career on Broadway before transitioning to television and film.

Rae is perhaps best known for her role as Edna Garrett on the 1970s sitcoms "Diff'rent Strokes" and "The Facts of Life." Her performance as the motherly and caring housekeeper made her a beloved figure in American households and cemented her status as a cultural icon.

However, Rae's talents extended well beyond the world of sitcoms. She also had a successful career as a commercial actress, appearing in numerous ads throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Some of her most notable commercials include ads for Tang and Clairol hair products.

Despite her success on screen, Rae also faced personal tragedy throughout her life. She dealt with numerous health issues, including pancreatic cancer, which ultimately led to her passing on August 5th, 2018.
