Lady A is an American country music group that was formed in Nashville , Tennessee in 2006. The group comprises Hillary Scott (lead), Charles Kelley (keyboards), and Dave Haywood (guitar, piano, and mandolin). Initially, the group was called Lady Antebellum, but in June 2020, the band changed its name to Lady A due to slavery connotations associated with the word "Antebellum." The name change caused controversy as it conflicted with a blues singer who had been performing under the name Lady A for more than 20 years.
