William Hanna was an American animator, cartoonist, film director, and television producer who co-founded the animation studio Hanna-Barbera with his partner Joseph Barbera. He is best known as the creator of cartoon characters such as Tom and Jerry, Fred Flintstone, Yogi Bear, and Scooby-Doo. Hanna passed away on March 22, 2001, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 90.
