This is certainly one of the more outstanding and memorable of war movies, despite it being made in 1968. So I dare say that it is actually a World War II classic. My rating of "Where Eagles Dare" lands on a well-deserved eight out of ten stars.
A classic of its time, this riveting WWII drama is rife with great action sequences (the cable car!) and shock twists pulled out of thin air. Three escapist hours very well spent.
