In 1996, with several of his key management team from OMC, he founded what has become the leading producer of wood-free boats in America: Triton Boats. Over the past thirty years, Earl Bentz and his team have been credited with developing many of the designs and system standards on today's bass boats.

Bentz founded Triton in the 1990s before ultimately selling it for $63 million in 2005.

In early 2001, Triton opened an aluminum plant in Aberdeen, Mississippi. In 2005, Triton Boat Company was purchased by Brunswick Corporation and Bentz continued to serve as Triton's Founder and Chief Executive Officer until 2018.

In early 2013, Triton was purchased by Jacsten Holdings. In November 2021, Triton Trailers was acquired by ALCOM LLC. Since 2006, ALCOM LLC has manufactured top quality, all-aluminum trailer solutions.

Donald Joel Aronow Donald Joel Aronow (March 3, 1927 – February 3, 1987) was an American designer, builder, and racer of the Magnum Marine, Cary, Cigarette, Donzi, and Formula speedboats. Aronow built speedboats for the Shah of Iran, Charles Keating, Robert Vesco, Malcolm Forbes, George H. W. Bush, and Lyndon B. Johnson.

Azimut is considered one of the most respected production and semi-custom boat builders, while Benetti is the world's largest builder of superyachts (by number of units), with a new gigayacht division with yachts over 330 feet.
