BOTTOM LINE: The Jenny Craig diet is pretty well researched for weight loss, but most of the meals and snacks are prepackaged and processed. It's a fairly expensive diet and transitioning over to regular meals might be challenging.

Despite its convenience, nutrition experts do not recommend this diet. The Nutrisystem diet has both practical and health-related drawbacks. Cost: Like many commercial weight loss plans, Nutrisystem won't fit into everyone's budget.

There have been about 700 similar lawsuits filed nationwide against Nutri/ System, which puts its clients on diets of its pre-measured, pre-packaged food. In South Florida, the company has about 30 centers.
