HBO Max (Max) is no longer offered with AT&T's Unlimited plans. If your plan included HBO Max (Max) and you redeemed it, you can stream as long as you do not make changes to your plan. If you change your plan, HBO Max (Max) will no longer be available.

I get HBO Max free with AT&T fiber. With the streaming service changing to "Max" and switching to 3 plans, the highest tier plan (Ultimate Ad Free $19.99 a month) is the only one that will offer 4K streaming & Dolby Vision.

But it makes sense that HBO Max is going away, seeing how AT&T doesn't own HBO anymore. The free HBO Max deal started in 2020, back when the carrier still owned Time Warner and, by association, HBO. But now that the new Warner Bros. Discovery owns HBO instead, AT&T would have to pay someone else for the service.

"You made changes to your AT&T wireless or broadband plan from one that included Max (formerly HBO Max) as a benefit and as a result, the Max benefit has changed. Effective 09/14/2023, you will no longer be eligible to receive the Max benefit.

HBO Max is available through many providers (e.g. TV, internet, and mobile providers) - see the list below. With HBO Max, you can stream all of HBO plus much more. If your provider supports HBO Max, you can sign in to HBO Max using your provider account for no extra cost.

Initial Setup

  1. Navigate to the. Max app.
  2. Select Sign In.
  3. Select Sign In then sign in with your Max or HBO Max account, or select Connect then sign in with your AT&T or DIRECTV user ID that includes HBO. Note: If you don't have one, you can register.
  4. Create your Max profile.
  5. Start streaming.

Since AT&T was no longer the owner of HBO Max, internet and mobility customers wondered if the service would be dropped from plans. But on a call with investors in July, AT&T CEO John Stankey said the company was experimenting with offering different perks and may bring HBO Max back in the future.

Note: Max (HBO Max) has no longer been offered to new customers since June 6, 2022. If you move your service or change your plan, you will no longer have Max (HBO Max) benefit. Please let us know if this helps!

By default, streaming is limited to WiFi connections. If you have a 3G or faster cellular connection, you can stream over your cellular network using your mobile data. Here's how: Open HBO Max on your phone or tablet and then tap your profile (upper right).

  1. Go to your myAT&T account overview via the web (not on myAT&T app). Look for the Activate HBO Max or Start Watching till. Click Activate if it appears.
  2. Reset your AT&T Password to ensure you are using the correct User ID and password associated with your qualifying AT&T service.

AT&T Customers Will Get to Keep Free HBO Max After the MAX Rebrand, But With Some Catches. Yesterday Warner Bros. Discovery announced a relaunch of HBO Max as just MAX. This new service will include content from Discovery+ and a ton of other features.
