Materne North America, the manufacturer of GoGo squeeze has announced a voluntary recall of its popular line of squeezable apple sauce packages. The manufacturer has found that a recent production batch of the applesauce developed mold in the packaging.

(CBS) – A brand of applesauce pouches popular among children is being recalled after inspectors found food product residue in factory pumps. GoGo squeeZ is voluntarily recalling pouches with best buy dates between Dec. 4, 2015 and March 4, 2017 as a result of the findings.

The candies - Cocco Candy Rolling Candy and various flavors of Slime Licker Sour Rolling Candy from Candy Dynamics - come in plastic bottles with a rolling ball that holds the liquid candy.

Packets filled with fruit and vegetable purée have become a hit with babies, toddlers and kids in the past few years. Now pouch makers are marketing them as a way for adults to snack on the go, while in the car or working out.

One of the biggest concerns with plastic baby food pouches is the potential for toxic chemicals to leach into the food. Studies have shown that heating and exposure to acidic foods can cause plastic to release harmful chemicals, which can then be ingested by the baby.

That concerns child health experts who say that while the pouches are fine as an occasional snack, their overuse could potentially breed poor eating habits and stunt development of feeding skills and motor coordination at a critical stage of life.

If you decide to try a baby food diet, consider replacing just one meal per day with pureed baby food instead of two to get more calories and nutrients. Still, this diet is not recommended since it could lead to nutrient deficiencies and create an unhealthy relationship with food.

Ripen fruit at room temperature. Once they are ripe, refrigerate. Apples, cherries, grapefruit, grapes, oranges, pineapples, strawberries, tangerines and watermelon are received ripe and should be refrigerated.

You can store these pouches in the fridge for up to a week. Or, freeze the pouches for up to 6 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge, at room temperature for a few hours, or by submerging in hot water.
