Sea Foam International, Inc. is the international arm of Sea Foam Sales Company which, since 1942, has manufactured additives for the automotive aftermarket in the United States, and more recently in Canada and other parts of the world.

Sea foam is created when waves or strong winds inject air into the dissolved organic matter in ocean water, forming bubbles. The organic matter, mostly made of dead microscopic plants, contains a protein that gives the water enough surface tension to form bubbles.

Seafoam is a fuel additive which has several uses. Its primary purpose is to clean the fuel system of varnish and fuel deposits. Whether for use to stabilize fuel or as a regular cleaner and lubricant, Sea Foam does not allow gums and varnish to form, helping your engine run cleaner and last longer.

Start and run the engine for 8 minutes to allow the Sea Foam concentration to draw through the carburetor circuits. Shut off the engine and let the engine sit over night or longer (2 to 3 days is better). After the long cleaning soak, add another gallon of fresh gas and run the engine for 5 to 8 minutes to heat up.

Directions. For regular fuel system maintenance, add 1 ounce per gallon. For cleaning, use 2 or more ounces per gallon – the more you add to fuel, the better it cleans! Add when the tank is low to maximize cleaning concentration.

Adding Sea Foam 100-300 miles before you change the oil does two things:

1. Gives the Sea Foam time to clean.
2. Lets all the liquid crud (the residues and deposits that Sea Foam cleaned and reliquefied) drain away with the old oil. That way the dirty oil is not circulating in the engine for too long.

Then let the engine sit overnight to allow the Sea Foam to dissolve any fuel residues from the carburetor (older or excessive gum/varnish may need to soak two to three days). Once the engine starts, the Sea Foam in the fuel will continue to clean and help restore lost engine performance.
