The Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship, formerly the Loretta Lynn's Amateur Championship, is held annually on Loretta Lynn's family ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.

The ranch caught the attention of Dave Coombs, a legendary race promoter in his time, who quickly began working with Lynn to bring amateur racers to this unique location. He didn't have to twist her arm too hard - Loretta loved the idea and quickly became one of American Motocross' biggest fans and supporters.

Loretta Lynn's is indeed named after the great country music star. Her former ranch, yes where she lived for quite some time, is now a tourist spot for her fans and, for six days, home to some of the best Motocross racing in the country.

The fastest 250cc dirt bikes are the Kawasaki XK 250 and the Yamaha WR250F, both have a top acceleration of 85 mph and similar features. The most powerful 450cc bike is the KTM 450 SX-F with a speed of 123 mph.

Similar to the MX Nationals, the SMX's “Playoff” races will operate under a two-moto format for both the 450 and 250 classes, with each moto being 20 minutes plus one lap (for reference, MX Nationals are 30 minute plus two lap motos). Scoring will be determined, in an Olympic format, based on the rider's moto finish.
