Candies were sold under the Wilmed brand, a portmanteau of Willy Mederer. Sales offices in Munich and Stuttgart were opened. In 1975 the company registered the 'Trolli' brand name that became the trading name for the company in 2012. Willy Mederer died in 1984 and was succeeded by his son Herbert.

And with that, the starting signal was given to make Trolli even more international. Production facilities in Spain were added in 1993 and in China in 1999. The newly acquired production facility in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 2000 also provided additional power.

Trolli sells gummy candies, marshmallows, and soft licorice gums in over 80 countries and has factories in Germany, Spain, Indonesia, USA, China and the Czech Republic.

The history of Trolli began in 1948 with the founding of the confectionery company "Wilmed" by Willy Mederer, father and role model of today's Trolli owner Herbert Mederer. With his mint fondant, as well as other exquisite creations, he won over the sweet tooth.

Interestingly, Trolli was run by another German confectioner, Willy Mederer, who founded Trolli in 1948, and whose company grew very popular in the 1980s in America. No matter which you prefer, gummy bears or gummy worms (or both!), each remains a favourite to this day.

"Our mastermind Herbert Mederer believed in 1975 that life is far too important to be taken too seriously, and he founded the brand Trolli to create the most delicious and craziest gummy candies with unique creativity, attention to detail, and the highest quality.
