What Is Rhinocort Aqua? Rhinocort Aqua (budesonide) nasal spray is a steroid used to treat nasal symptoms such as congestion, sneezing, and runny nose caused by seasonal or year-round allergies. Rhinocort Aqua nasal spray is also used to keep nasal polyps from returning after surgical removal.

Rhinocort should be used regularly to keep your symptoms under control. Do not use for more than 6 months without the advise of your doctor or pharmacist.

Apply four sprays in each nostril daily either all in the morning or two sprays into each nostril in the morning and evening. Do not use more than 256µg (8 sprays) each day.

Nose/throat dryness or irritation, cough, sneezing, nosebleeds, or unpleasant taste/smell may occur. If any of these side effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

This medication does not work right away. Some people will feel this medication working within 1 to 2 days, but it may take up to 2 weeks before the full benefit of this drug takes effect.

However, long term use of high steroid doses can lead to symptoms such as thinning skin, easy bruising, changes in the shape or location of body fat (especially in your face, neck, back, and waist), increased acne or facial hair, menstrual problems, impotence, or loss of interest in sex.

Tell your doctor right away if any of the following side effects occur: unusual/extreme tiredness, weight loss, headache, swelling ankles/feet, increased thirst/urination, vision problems.

(Adults 18 years and older): The usual dose is: ONE spray into EACH nostril twice a day (in the morning and evening). Continue using your Rhinocort for as long as your doctor tells you to. Talk to your child's doctor if your child needs to use the spray for longer than two months a year.
