Reynolds Kitchens Brown Parchment Paper is a responsibly-sourced, totally chlorine-free cooking paper that is made with 75% unbleached fiber. This baking parchment is compostable in home and commercial composting facilities (facilities may not exist in your area) and meets the standards of EN 13432.

Can I use Reynolds Kitchens® Parchment Paper in the microwave oven? Yes. To reheat foods in the microwave, place a small sheet of Reynolds Kitchens® Parchment Paper underneath foods in order to eliminate splatters and avoid messy cleanup.

Is unbleached parchment paper safe to use in the oven or a convection oven? Yes, Reynolds Kitchens® Unbleached Parchment Paper is oven safe up to 425°F. Never touch the parchment paper to an open flame or to the sides of the oven, and do not use with a broiling unit or toaster oven.

Parchment paper is very versatile and can be used for everything from lining baking sheets to wrapping fish, and other dishes that are cooked en papillote. In instances when you'd reach for wax paper, parchment paper will also suffice.

It's important to note that parchment is different from wax paper in that it's oven-safe and heat-resistant, so it can be used in the oven. You can use it in temperatures up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit before it will start to crisp, darken, and lose its quality.

Animal skins are more labor intensive to process manually than plant based papyrus (and were therefore probably more expensive). However, as well as being more readily available, parchment probably also had several practical advantages over papyrus, including having a smoother writing surface.

The paper won't release noxious chemicals, and will not burn. Most parchment paper is rated for use at temperatures no higher than 420 to 450 degrees. But we occasionally recommend using this liner for bread and pizza baked as high as 500 degrees.

Despite its versatility, it's commonly used in instances where high heat is necessary because its silicone construction keeps it from melting in the oven and over the stovetop. Use it to line cake pans and baking sheets, as a soft lid for slowly reducing sauces, and as a liner for blind baking pie crust.

When Not to Use Parchment Paper. Parchment paper is not designed for high-heat cooking. Avoid using it in your oven or on the grill if temperature will exceed 400 degrees, says Michelle Weaver, chef at Charleston Grill in South Carolina, as there's a chance it could catch fire.
