The frozen skin with the treated wart will fall off after about 10-14 days. In the meantime, new skin will have formed under the blister. A stinging, itching, aching feeling during and after freezing that quickly decreases after the area thaws. Possible changes in coloring from white to red.

Cryosurgery usually cures 50% to 70% of warts after 3 or 4 treatments. Cryotherapy can remove genital warts but it cannot cure them. Those types of warts are likely to come back. Warts on other parts of your body may or may not return.

Your child's wart can be treated with liquid nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen freezes and destroys both the wart and a small area of normal skin around the wart. A special spray bottle or a cotton swab is used to put on the liquid nitrogen. It takes about 10 to 20 seconds to apply.

With wart medications, such as salicylic acid, the wart should peel away in stages until it is as flat as the skin. If this does not happen, the treatment may not be working.
