Gift cards are redeemable for merchandise and in-store services at any Academy Sports + Outdoors store or for merchandise at academy.com.

These are electronic codes bought online and sent to your email address or phone number. Retail stores, banks or appropriate outlets (for example; restaurants) issue these codes and they are redeemed at these outlets or any place that accepts them. They are used to purchase items and/or services.

Because a Visa gift card functions like a credit card, it can be used anywhere that Visa cards are accepted, including online purchases - though it will likely need to be registered online or by phone prior to use. We'll explain how to do that later.

Merchandise credit is similar to a gift card but is issued in the amount of the returned item, rather in a pre-determined amount. Just like a gift card, merchandise credit can be used same as cash to purchase items from only that issuing retailer, or their family of brands.

A store card is a credit card that can only be used in a specific store or group of stores. For example, if you have a store card with the apparel retailer Gap, you may be able to use it within their network of brands, which include Old Navy, Banana Republic and Athleta, but nowhere else.

The main difference between an ecard and a gift card is that the gift card is a physical card, whereas an e-gift card is only a code and PIN sent to your email.

You can easily turn gift cards into cash (or more desirable gift cards) through reputable sites like Raise and CardCash. The site you choose will depend on the ease of sale and the type of gift card you have. You won't get full value for it, but that's still better than letting a gift card go unused.

The most common reasons are that the card hasn't been activated, the cashier is running the wrong type of transaction, the dollar amount being charged is greater than the card's balance or the credit card processing machine is bumping up the charge amount to either place a hold on the card or to allow for a gratuity.

CardCash is a secondary online marketplace where everyday folks buy and sell unused gift cards. Consumers can buy, sell, or trade their pre-owned gift cards for a cash value paid out via check, ACH, or PayPal, which typically arrives within one to two business days.

An evoucher is a 12-digit code consisting of numbers and upper case letters which can be entered on the website to receive a discount for an online grocery order. Remember to click Add Voucher at the checkout and this will be deducted from the total of your order.
