AUGUSTA, Ga. – Eighty junior golfers representing 31 U.S. states, one Canadian province and Australia have earned an invitation to compete at Augusta National Golf Club in the 10th annual Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals, to be played on Sunday, April 7, 2024, prior to the start of the 88th Masters Tournament.
How it Works. Participants compete in all three skills (Drive, Chip and Putt) and hit three shots per skill for a total of nine shots. Points are accumulated per shot at each skill. The overall champion in each division is determined by the participant with the most points accumulated between all three skills.
For a drive to count for a score, it must come to rest within a 40-yard-wide landing area. Golfers use their longest drive that stays inbounds. The player with the longest drive overall (distances are measured by laser devices) receives 10 points, the second-longest gets nine, through to the 10th golfer, who gets one.
Golf Canada administers it. The PGA of Canada and provincial golf associations deliver it. The Canadian version actually uses a fourth category - iron play - to join putting, chipping and driving as the skills pillars.
