How it Works. Participants compete in all three skills (Drive, Chip and Putt) and hit three shots per skill for a total of nine shots. Points are accumulated per shot at each skill. The overall champion in each division is determined by the participant with the most points accumulated between all three skills.

Conducted in partnership with the USGA, the Masters Tournament and the PGA of America, Drive, Chip and Putt is a free, nationwide youth golf development program open to boys and girls, ages 7-15, in four age divisions.

Opportunity was knocking in the fall of 2013, only children tend to be too busy to pay attention. Now that they've etched their place in history, the participants of the inaugural Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals can look back with gratitude for those who heard the knocking and set things in motion.

Putt-Putt is a fun version of mini-golf that has a little different history.

A chipping contest is a great promotion at any venue. Randomly select your contestants and let them try their luck at sinking a single 40 yard or longer chip for a huge prize. If someone holes the lucky chip, Odds On pays the price.

Chip shots are generally hit close to the green where the golfer does not need to carry the ball very far in the air and just wants to get the ball started and let it roll out towards the hole like a putt. Chip shots can be hit with a variety of different clubs from wedges down to as low as a #7 iron.

The putt-chip is a perfect choice as the ball will loft just a bit and then come out with a soft roll. It will have some backspin and tend to stop easily. That is very different from a bump and run which is a more aggressive shot with top spin.
