Operation Christmas Child is a global program facilitated through hundreds of thousands of trained volunteers. Local believers in more than 170 countries deliver Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts, present the Gospel, and facilitate our follow-up discipleship program, The Greatest Journey.

During National Collection Week (Nov. 13–20, 2023), Samaritan's Purse will collect the gift filled shoeboxes at more than 4,500 drop off locations in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

Operation Christmas Child delivers great joy and the Good News of Jesus Christ to children in need around the world through gift-filled shoeboxes. Each box packed full of quality toys, school supplies, and personal care items becomes a tangible expression of God's immense love for the child.

Other churches use the boxes as resources for outreach in orphanages and other at-risk areas. In many places, they also offer The Greatest Gift, a Gospel story booklet Samaritan's Purse developed for shoebox recipients, and invite children to participate in The Greatest Journey discipleship program.

Here shoeboxes are inspected and prepared for international shipping. Next they travel by plane, truck, or ship to more than 100 countries and territories where local churches distribute the boxes to children in need.
