Frequently Asked Questions about cortizone 10 eczema tv spot, 'stand in front of the camera'

Clinically tested, specifically designed for eczema and itchy, dry skin. Works fast and lasts for hours. Cortizone-10® Maximum Strength 1% Hydrocortisone Itch Relief Intensive Healing Lotion for Eczema helps relieve the itch associated with minor skin irritations, rashes, and inflammation due to eczema.

Never put hydrocortisone on your face unless your doctor says it's OK and has given you a prescription for it. It can make some skin problems worse like impetigo, rosacea and acne. Only use hydrocortisone skin treatments on children under 10 years old if a doctor recommends it.

Hydrocortisone is a common eczema treatment. It's available in both over-the-counter and prescription strengths. It can reduce the itching, redness, and swelling of eczema flare-ups. It's not recommended for children under 2 years old, but is generally considered safe for older children and teenagers.

Hydrocortisone 1% cream is a common, mild topical steroid that treats eczema by reducing the inflammatory chemicals that the body produces. The active ingredient that Hydrocortisone products contain is hydrocortisone acetate, a mild corticosteroid that helps to tackle skin flare-ups, itching and soreness.

The use of topical corticosteroids on the eyelids or around the eyes should always be limited because the skin in this area is particularly thin. Patients should be warned against using any steroid on their face unless advised to do so by their doctor, and that facial application should be limited to two weeks or less.

Topical steroids on the face can cause symptoms sometimes referred to as “red face syndrome”, dermatitis rosaceaformis steroidica or steroid addiction. And stopping steroid use on the face after an extended period can have considerable rebound effects including erythema (redness), burning and scaling.

Usually, hydrocortisone will start to work on eczema within a few days, depending on the severity of symptoms and the healing timeline of each person. Most of the time, a person will need to use it for only up to a week at a time, unless their doctor advises otherwise.

Topical OTC hydrocortisone cream is a low potency steroid and works on eczema-prone skin by reducing irritation, itching and inflammation. OTC steroids come in many forms, including ointments, creams, lotions and gels. They are used for the temporary relief of itching and rashes caused by most types of eczema.

Hydrocortisone topical is usually used one to four times a day for skin problems. Apply it at around the same time(s) every day. Follow the directions on your prescription or product label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Use hydrocortisone exactly as directed.

For redness, itching, and swelling of the skin: For topical dosage form (cream): Adults - Apply to the affected area of the skin two or three times per day. Children - Apply to the affected area of the skin two or three times per day.

Low-potency steroids are the safest agents for long-term use, on large surface areas, on the face or areas of the body with thinner skin, and on children. More potent agents are beneficial for severe diseases and for areas of the body where the skin is thicker, such as the palms and bottoms of the feet.

Risks of Topical Corticosteriods Although early skin thinning can disappear if the topical corticosteroid is discontinued, prolonged use can cause permanent stretch marks (striae). Stretch marks usually occur on the upper inner thighs, under the arms, and in the elbow and knee creases.
