Mucinex DM (guaifenesin / dextromethorphan) is a combination medication used for relieving chest congestion and calming a cough. It's available over-the-counter, so you don't need a prescription to get it. Most people have no side effects from it, but it cannot be used in children under 4 years old.

Active Ingredients: In each extended-release bi-layer tablet: Dextromethorphan HBr (60 mg), guaifenesin (1200 mg). Inactive ingredients: Carbomer homopolymer type B, D&C yellow 10 aluminum lake, hypromellose USP, magnesium stearate NF, microcrystalline cellulose NF, sodium starch glycolate NF.
