An applicator, such as a felt pen, uses a composition containing a colorless leuco dye that changes to color in the presence of acid. The substrate in the Color Wonder paper contains zinc ions which trigger the development of color in the dyes when the marker inks are applied.

Crayola Color Wonder Markers and Paints only show up on Color Wonder paper, so you can leave kids to their art without worrying about clean-up. The special ink is clear on most surfaces and won't stain furniture, fabric, or skin.

We do not recommend the use of traditional Crayola art products for intentional direct skin contact. Products designed for face and skin painting require specific testing and approval for this purpose.

The ink itself is made of a pigment or dye to give it a color, a resin to make it stick to a writing surface, and a solvent to make the ink move through the marker. A plastic top seals one end of the marker off, and a felt tip makes it possible to write with the other end.

COLOR CHANGING MARKERS: The color changing markers use a fun blending technology where layering one color on top of another creates an entirely new third color, allowing kids to explore new hues and color combinations.
