Since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict, the global Red Cross network has stood by and assisted people as they have faced the most heartbreaking of circumstances.

The main functions of the Red Cross are:

• To extend relief and help to the victims of any calamity – fire, flood, famine, earthquakes, etc.
• To procure and supply blood for the victims of war and other calamities.
• To extend all possible first-aid in an accident.
• To educate people in accident prevention.

The Indian Red Cross is a voluntary humanitarian organization having a network of over 700 branches throughout the country, providing relief in times of disasters/emergencies and promotes health & care of the vulnerable people and communities.

Humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality: these seven Fundamental Principles sum up the Movement's ethics and are at the core of its approach to helping people in need during armed conflict, natural disasters and other emergencies.

We find missing relatives. Thousands of families are separated every year by disasters like tsunamis, conflicts or migration. By working as a global network, we reconnect families who have been separated, whether that's immediately after a crisis or years later from across the world.

We provide the people, equipment, space and resources to support those affected by an emergency, helping them to recover. We can give support when emergencies happen: to individuals and families.

The red cross emblem is an international symbol of neutrality and protection during armed conflicts. Used by military medical personnel and authorised humanitarian workers to safeguard the wounded and sick on the battlefield, it remains as relevant today as ever in saving lives.

The Movement has three globally recognized emblems - the Red Cross, the Red Crescent and the Red Crystal. They are symbols of assistance in times of conflict and disaster.
