The Luxor Hotel and Casino is an Ancient-Egypt-themed resort and a landmark on the Las Vegas Strip. Built at about 75% to scale of the Great Pyramid of Giza, the 30-storey glass and steel pyramid-shaped hotel is one of the most iconic sights in Sin City. At night, a beam of light shines out from the tip of the pyramid.

The Luxor was developed by Circus Circus Enterprises at a cost of $375 million. Construction began on April 21, 1992, and the resort opened on October 15, 1993, with 2,526 rooms. A renovation and expansion project, costing $300 million, took place from 1996 to 1997.

Each episode initially cost $2.3 million to produce, although the budget was gradually raised to $2.7 million as the series progressed. Although most of the production occurred in California, some filming also occasionally took place in Las Vegas. Filming primarily occurred at Culver Studios in California.

The hotel is named after the city of Luxor (ancient Thebes) in Egypt. Luxor is the second largest hotel in Las Vegas. The largest is the MGM Grand). It is also the eighth largest in the world.

Dating back to 1392 BCE, the temple was built on the east bank of the Nile River and is dedicated to the deities Mut, Khonsu, and Amun. Its construction was begun by Pharaoh Amenhotep III and was completed by Pharaoh Tutankhamun. Containing ten sections, Luxor Temple is massive.
