Frequently Asked Questions about breo tv spot, 'breathing problems'

Breo Ellipta only comes as a brand-name drug. It's not currently available in a generic version. A generic contains an exact copy of the active drug in a brand-name medication but tends to cost less.

BREO ELLIPTA is used to treat asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). To use BREO ELLIPTA, you breathe it into your lungs through your mouth using the ELLIPTA inhaler. Asthma is when the muscles surrounding the smaller airways become tight (bronchoconstriction), swollen and irritated (inflammation).

Is BREO an anabolic steroid? No. BREO contains an ingredient called fluticasone furoate, which is a type of medicine called an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS). ICS medicines such as fluticasone furoate help to decrease inflammation in the lungs.

Breo Ellipta side effects chest pain, fast or pounding heartbeats, pounding in your neck or ears; sores or white patches in your mouth and throat, pain when swallowing; fever, chills, cough with yellow or green mucus; blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around lights.

The cost for Breo Ellipta inhalation powder (100 mcg-25 mcg/inh) is around $170 for a supply of 28 powder, depending on the pharmacy you visit. Quoted prices are for cash-paying customers and are not valid with insurance plans.

Using Breo Ellipta long term could cause decreased bone density (weakened bones). If you have osteoporosis, using this medication could make your condition worse. If you have osteoporosis, tell your doctor before you start using Breo Ellipta. They'll decide whether this medication is safe for you.

One of the ways Breo Ellipta works is as a preventative medicine – so it will only be effective for as long as you are using it. Unless you are told to stop using Breo Ellipta by your doctor, continue its use or your symptoms might return.

Breo and Advair Diskus are FDA-approved to help the lungs work better in people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The drugs help you breathe by relaxing muscles in your airways and helping them stay open. Both drugs are also approved to reduce the number of COPD flare-ups that people have.

Using Breo Ellipta can increase your risk of infection. If your immune system is weakened or you already have a higher risk of infection, this drug can raise your risk even more. If you have an infection or symptoms of infection before you start using Breo Ellipta, talk with your doctor.

Using Breo may increase your risk of oral thrush or esophageal thrush. These fungal infections occur in your mouth or throat. In clinical studies, up to 5 percent of people with COPD and 2 percent of people with asthma who took Breo had oral or esophageal thrush.

If Breo is effective and safe for you, you'll probably use this drug long term. Breo is typically used long term to treat COPD, and to prevent asthma attacks in adults with asthma.

One of the ways Breo Ellipta works is as a preventative medicine – so it will only be effective for as long as you are using it. Unless you are told to stop using Breo Ellipta by your doctor, continue its use or your symptoms might return. Your doctor will change your medicines as needed.
