LiMu Emu and Doug are the official mascots of Liberty Mutual insurance company. LiMu Emu and its human friend Doug are popular as the dynamic duo.

David Hoffman Doug is a mascot from Liberty Mutual Insurance's commercials. He is played by David Hoffman. In all of the commercials, he is always accompanied by an emu named LiMu Emu. The duo appear in new spots to spread word that "Liberty Mutual customizes coverage so you'll only pay for what you need."

“LiMu Emu is a mix of a real bird and CGI. Live emus were used during the initial shoot on set. The final images of the emu in the commercials are a blend of footage captured from the live emus and our digitally created emu.”

Liberty Mutual As a branding device, though, the campaign falls short. It was only after 178 viewings that I saw the name “Limu” as short for Liberty Mutual. Maybe that's just me being slow, but in this case, I don't think so. The problem is that Liberty Mutual is not known as LiMu. They don't even use the nickname on their website.

Limu was as integral to a meal as fish and poi, and although it was considered a condiment that was eaten primarily to spice up other foods, the minerals and nutrients that it provided were essential to a healthy diet.

Different limu were used for different purposes, including consumption, medicine, and ceremonies. Limu that didn't serve any purpose were often not given a name, and were simply referred to as 'opala limu, or rubbish limu.

Is LiMu Emu from the Liberty Mutual commercials a real emu? The LiMU emu is a blend of a real emu and CGI. GS&P and The Mill worked together to create the mascot. The VFX crew shot a real emu, Beaker, to produce reference footage for a CG digital double.

Only Pay for What You Need Is a slogan we have come to internalize when we think of Liberty Mutual insurance.

What it is: Limu is the Hawaiian word for seaweed; LIMU Original is the brand name of a blend of seaweed (limu moui), fruit purees and fruit juice concentrates. The purported benefits of LIMU Original are attributed to a compound called fucoidan that occurs naturally in certain types of seaweed.
