Polo Ralph Lauren is the first designer in the history of The Championships to partner with The All England Lawn Tennis Club and outfit all Wimbledon on-court officials.

At Wimbledon fans generally do not get to keep any balls that go into the spectator area. If a ball lands near you, expect the umpire and crowd to pressure you into returning the ball. The initial set of balls is used for the warm up and the first seven games.

There is no official Wimbledon dress code for spectators beyond a few forbidden items: no torn jeans, running vests, dirty sneakers, or sport shorts.

A number of female Wimbledon competitors back in 2014 had to play without a bra, sparking fierce debate around the tournament's strict underwear rules. Organisers have relaxed the regulations ahead of this year's tournament, which has gone down well with a number of prominent players.

Can female tennis players wear shorts at Wimbledon or do they have to wear skirts? Thankfully, Wimbledon are not stopping the ladies wearing something that the men do. As demonstrated by Jelena Ostapenko in the above photo, women are welcome to wear shorts if they want, there is no rule enforcing skirts upon them.

After being used in matches, the old tennis balls at Wimbledon are collected by the ball boys and girls. Wimbledon organizers store these balls until the end of each game day. Some of the used balls are made available for purchase by fans. Any unsold balls are donated to charitable causes.

Unfortunately, many of these balls are only used a few times before being discarded, and though Wimbledon sells many on and donates the rest to charity, the majority of tennis balls still end up in landfill once they've fallen out of use.

It read: "Any undergarments that either are or can be visible during play (including due to perspiration) must also be completely white except for a single trim of colour no wider than one centimetre (10mm)."

Burning bras in the name of women's rights was a trend of the 1960s - but being allowed to put them back on is the movement in 2023. Or at least being permitted to wear a certain type of bra after Wimbledon amended a rule that once prevented tennis players from wearing non-white underwear.

At the end of a match, players are expected to leave the towels behind to be laundered. Court attendants politely ask for them, but enjoy only 20 per cent success in the reclaim procedure.

Some items are forbidden: ripped jeans, grubby trainers, sports shorts, running vests and anything emblazoned with a political statement, “objectionable” slogan or big logo. Oversized hats are also not allowed as they may block the view for fellow spectators. Instead, opt for a smaller classic Panama.

A handful of players in the women's draw, who will be allowed to wear dark coloured undershorts for the first time in 2023, had to ditch their bras thanks to SW19 regulations stating that male and female athletes must adhere to the competition's strict all-white dress code.

“When having their period tennis players should stay well hydrated with warm drinks or fluids at room temperature,” she said. “Cold drinks and ice will make menstrual cramps worse. Warm drinks on a daily basis and keeping cold feet as warm as possible will also help.
