No GPS watches need the internet. GPS watches instead receive data to triangulate your position from a series of satellite networks that circulate above the earth. Your device calculates the time taken for radio signals from at least four different satellites to reach it and this is how it locates your position.

NMEA 2000® is a plug-and-play communications standard used for connecting marine sensors and display devices within ships and boats, and is considered the successor to the NMEA® 0183 serial data bus standard.

  • Our pick. Fitbit Inspire 3. The best fitness tracker.
  • Runner-up. Fitbit Charge 5. More features, including built-in GPS.
  • Also great. Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) A smartwatch and fitness tracker in one.

The 942 only has one data port. You can always add additional ports but you will need to buy a network expansion box. The 943 has side scan built in so personally I would buy that today even if I did not add a side scan transducer.

XSV gets you the built in sonar. That's the main difference between the two. you can still use the GSD modules with the non-xsv stuff, I'm pretty sure.

Most Garmin watches have a GPS receiver built-in and do not require your phone to record GPS activities.
