Salty and sweet, what a treat! The Sea Salt Toffee Fudge Blizzard® Treat blends salted toffee pieces, rich fudge pieces, and caramel topping with our world-famous soft serve to achieve true Blizzard® Treat perfection.

The triple truffle Blizzard features a blend of truffles filled with peanut butter, fudge and caramel. The chocolatey treat is blended with Dairy Queen's soft serve and the company's chocolate topping for a cold, decadent confection.

Blizzards technically aren't ice cream According to the FDA, a product must contain at least 10 percent butterfat or milkfat to be called ice cream, and DQ's soft serve only has 5 percent - hence why it's always referred to as a Blizzard “treat.”

The Caramel Fudge Cheesecake Blizzard features the brand's signature vanilla soft-serve blended with rich cheesecake pieces and fudge-covered salty caramel pieces. Dairy Queen's fall menu will officially be available starting Aug.

These are sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami. Salted caramel combines two of these, giving an effect that chefs call “flavour layering”. Salt also acts as an enhancer of flavour (that's why you sprinkle it on your chips, for instance), so that's why it makes caramel taste even better.

A chocolatier named Henri Le Roux was making caramel when he accidentally added some fleur de sel, a type of French sea salt, to the mixture. Instead of throwing the batch away, he tasted it and was pleasantly surprised by the combination of sweet and salty flavours.

It has been a staple on the menu since its introduction in 1985, a year in which Dairy Queen sold more than 100 million Blizzards.
