August 12, 2019 ATLANTA (August 12, 2019) – We admit it, we're a little cheesy. Starting today we're going to be a lot cheesier as Mac & Cheese is now available nationwide as a side option with any lunch, dinner, Kid's Meal or catering order at Chick-fil-A.

Mac and cheese is a rich and creamy dish consisting of macaroni pasta mixed with a cheesy sauce. It's particularly popular in the United States.

Participating Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide are now offering Mac & Cheese, a classic side dish the whole family will enjoy. Chick-fil-A's recipe features a special blend of cheeses including cheddar, parmesan and Romano and is baked in-restaurant daily for a homemade taste.

"Chick fil A mac and cheese is one of the least healthy choices. A large serving is packed with 840 calories and more than 2,000 milligrams of sodium, more than you need for an entire day! Instead I recommend choosing a grilled sandwich option for higher protein and lower sodium," Amanda Lane, MS, RD, CDCES offers.

Kraft In 1937 during the Great Depression, Kraft came out with it's boxed macaroni and cheese option. Back then, one box could feed a family of four for only 19 cents and Kraft quickly sold over 8 million boxes in one year.

It all started with a boneless chicken breast. Hand-breaded, perfectly seasoned and pressure-cooked, Truett decided to serve the filet on a toasted, buttery bun with two pickle chips.

Nobody knows the true origin of Mac N' Cheese, but some people believe the first recipe came from southern Italy in the 13th century. It consisted of sheets of lasagne made from fermented dough which were then cut into small squares that were boiled and mixed with grated cheese.

The earliest recorded mac and cheese recipe dates all the way back to 1769 and most likely comes from Northern Europe. In America, we've been enjoying this staple thanks to Thomas Jefferson. After a trip to France, Jefferson just couldn't part with all of the amazing pasta dishes in which he indulged.

The Chick-fil-A mac and cheese reminds me of the homemade version that my mom makes on special occasions. Underneath a thick layer of melted cheese lay a mixture of macaroni and a rich, creamy cheese sauce.
