Cherry has medium density, with good wood bending properties, medium strength and shock resistance, but low stiffness, and can be steam bent with care. Being hard and stable when dry the wood is very easy to stain and finish to an excellent surface. It is highly prized for furniture and interior joinery.

The Janka hardness test gives it a rating of 3500, which makes it incredibly durable and resistant to scratches, dents, and imperfections. This hardness makes it strong enough to hold up to use in even the most high-traffic areas of the home. Use it in a dining room without fear of chairs scuffing the floors.

On the other hand, Brazilian cherry can bring out the vibrancy in a room that's full of color. Though the wood is water resistant, it still shouldn't be used in a bathroom or a room that has unusually high humidity. Experts recommend using a dehumidifier in a room that has Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring.

Durability Rating: Brazilian Cherry is rated as very durable. It is very resistant to brown-rot and white-rot fungi, and dry rot termites. Working Characteristics: Brazilian Cherry is rated as moderately difficult to saw and and machine as a result of high density.
