In general, a long arm lift will provide a smoother ride on the road because the wheel travel has a larger radius and is therefore less dramatically curved.

An XJ Cherokee lifted 3 inches of lift should have: lift coils, lift leaf springs, longer shocks, longer sway bar links, longer brake lines, adjustable track bar, slightly extended bump stops, and either a transfer case drop or an SYE and matching driveshaft. Longer lower control arms are suggested, but not required.

Choose The Right Size If you upgrade your Jeep to have 33-inch tires, a simple 1.5-inch lift will be plenty, while 35-inch tires require at least a 2.5-inch lift and possibly up to a 3.5-inch lift. If you plan to go all the way up to 37-inch tires, you'll need at least a 3.5-inch lift but preferably a 4-inch lift.

Look at the front crossmembers for the lower control arms. Measure the distance from a lower control arm bolt to the factory control arm mounting hole above it. If your kit uses blocks in the rear instead of leaf springs, measure the size of the block. The rear of most kits will be 2-3 inches less lift than the front.

As said above, 3" is not nearly enough for 35's. 4" is recommended for 33's so an additional 1" body lift together with the 3" suspension lift would be a good idea for those 33's.

Your going to need the rough country 4.5" lift if you want 33's. Even at 4.5" of lift, minor fender trimming is needed in the front for 33's. 3 in lift with 33's and tj flares, and lot's of cutting. ah cut it and run 33s stock with some 12" travel shocks.

The height of your lift kit depends on your lifestyle and driving habits. If you are off-roading on uneven terrain, consider a kit closer to 6 inches that gives your vehicle higher ground clearance. Remember that lifting your vehicle too high can reduce fuel economy and compromise your steering and handling.
