In 1970, Thompson/Center entered the Black Powder market with the introduction of their first muzzleloading rifle, the Hawken. Muzzleloading interest at the time was minimal and the market needed a quality rifle, which could not only be shot but could be purchased at a reasonable price.

You will hear a lot about T/C, Thompson Center, brand Hawkens but they are NOT made anymore.

The Colt Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company in Hartford, Connecticut was contracted by the Auto-Ordnance Corporation to manufacture the initial mass production of 15,000 Thompson Submachine Guns in 1920.

Thompson submachine gun, byname Tommy gun, submachine gun patented in 1920 by its American designer, John T. Thompson. It weighed almost 10 pounds (4.5 kg) empty and fired . 45-calibre ammunition.

As mentioned above, most setups are clocking around 1,700 fps with the average 250-grain (or heavier) bullet.

Originally developed by John Thompson as a lightweight, automatic rifle to be used by American soldiers, the Tommy gun was invented in 1918 - too late for mass distribution during World War I - and wasn't officially adopted by the U.S. Army until World War II.

M3/M3A1 By the time of the Korean War in 1950, the Thompson had seen much use by the U.S. and South Korean military, even though the Thompson had been replaced as standard-issue by the M3/M3A1.

During their association, coincident with the heyday of the famous annual rendezvous (1825 – 1840), the Hawken brothers produced only an estimated 1,000 rifles.

Its versatility, accuracy, and astoundingly fast firing rate made it as famous an accessory to prohibition-era gangsters as a three-piece pinstripe suit and goofy accent. Those same great features also made it a favorite among police and federal agents.

The full name of the gun, The Thompson Submachine Gun, or just the Thompson Machine Gun, is based on its creator, John T. Thompson.

The striker is cocked when you rack the slide. Once the trigger is pulled, the striker moves forward to hit the primer. These guns are not able to be de-cocked; the only way you can do that is by firing the guns. Striker-fired guns are also more commonly used as concealed carry guns and are often used for home defense.
