Blue light blocking glasses have filters in their lenses that block or absorb blue light, and in some cases UV light, from getting through. That means if you use these glasses when looking at a screen, especially after dark, they can help reduce exposure to blue light waves that can keep you awake.

Most computer glasses are designed to filter out blue light - high-energy light rays emitted from the display screens on your computer, tablet and phone.

How Computer Glasses Work. Computer glasses reduce eye strain by adjusting the focus slightly so that your eyes feel like they are focusing on something further away. They also have a tint to remove the glare and block blue light from entering into your eyes.

GARCIA-NAVARRO: So what did your study discover about wearing these glasses? ROSENFIELD: Both of the studies actually found that the blue-blocking filters have no effect, no significant effect on digital eye strain.
