Orajel numbs the skin or surfaces inside the mouth and used for the temporary relief of pain from sore throat, canker sores, cold sores, fever blisters, minor irritation or injury of the mouth and gums. Orajel is also use for temporary relief of sore gums due to teething in children 2 years of age and older.

Orajel™ 4X Medicated For Toothache & Gum Cream provides instant pain relief for severe toothaches and painful gums. The formula combines the power of four active ingredients for fast topical pain relief.

Orajel Extra Strength contains 20% w/w of benzocaine as the active ingredient. Orajel Extra Strength also contains macrogol 400, polyethylene glycol 3350, sodium saccharin (E954), sorbic acid (E200), natural spearmint flavor, citric acid and clove oil.

Ingredients : Benzalkonium chloride 0.13%, Benzocaine 20%, Menthol 0.5%, Zinc chloride 0.15%, ammonium glycyrrhizate, blue 1, flavor, PEG-8, PEG-75, sodium saccharin, sorbic acid, water.

Adults: Apply a pea-size amount of product to the affected area. Use up to 4 times daily or as directed by a physician or healthcare provider. Allow gel to dry 30-60 seconds into protective film. Do not eat for one hour following use.

Dip the applicator in the pain relief liquid. Apply a small amount of product to the affected area. Adults and children 2 years of age and older use up to 4 times daily or as directed by a dentist or doctor.

With a clean finger or swab apply an amount of gel the size of a green pea into the tooth cavity. Use up to 4 times daily. Do not use continuously. If toothache persists, consult your dentist.

Orajel lasts for 15-20 minutes at full effect, so that's how long you can expect total numbness in the treated area. The effect will persist at a reduced level for several hours after that, giving you some continued relief. You can use Orajel several times per day if necessary.

Benzocaine, sold under the brand name Orajel amongst others, is a local anesthetic, belonging to the amino ester drug class, commonly used as a topical painkiller or in cough drops.

Benzocaine is an ester local anesthetic that acts by preventing transmission of impulses along nerve fibers and at nerve endings. It is commonly used for local anesthesia in many over the counter products. Benzocaine was first used for local anesthesia in dentistry.

Benzocaine and other local anesthetics can cause methemoglobinemia, a serious condition in which the amount of oxygen carried through the blood is greatly reduced. This condition is life-threatening and can result in death. Gently rub or massage the child's gums with one of your fingers.

Orajel Mouth Gel is intended for short-term use until you can get to a dentist. It should not be used continuously. Do not use for more than 4 days at a time. If the pain persists, consult your dentist.

If you are using the gel or liquid form: Use the benzocaine gel or liquid only when needed, but not for more than four times a day. In children, instead of using this medicine, talk with your pediatrician about different ways to treat teething.
