Production. The 2021 Encore GX is assembled by: GM China (SAIC) at the Dong Yue plant in Yantai, Shandong, China. GM Korea at the GM Bupyeong plant in Bupyeong-gu, Incheon, South Korea.

GM Authority has confirmed that the 2018 Buick Regal - including the 2018 Buick Regal Sportback and TourX wagon - will be built at the Opel Rüsselsheim plant in Germany alongside the 2017 Opel Insignia (and Vauxhall Insignia) range, and then exported to North America.

During a recent interview, GM Authority Executive Editor Alex Luft discovered that the Buick GX moniker actually doesn't stand for anything all, as confirmed by the GM marketing team. Rather than serving as an acronym, the “GX” in Buick GX is just a set of letters added to the nameplate for the sake of differentiation.

The Buick Encore is the brand's first subcompact crossover, and it has done well in the market. The Encore has a cousin in Germany, the Opel Mokka, and that model has just received its first update along with a new suffix - it's now called the Mokka X.
