Care Bears license history In 2008, American Greetings announced that they had sold the master toy license to the Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake franchises to Hasbro, who confirmed they would release new toys for both franchises in 2009.

1980s Over 40 million Care Bears were sold between 1983 and 1987, and American Greetings printed over 70 million of their cards during the decade. In whole, the sales of their merchandise reached over $2 million during the 1980s.

Nearly 40 years ago, Those Characters from Cleveland (TCFC), the character development division of American Greetings, was determined to create a brand that would replicate the success the group had recently enjoyed with Strawberry Shortcake.

The original Care Bears were created in 1981. Starting out as artwork to be used on greeting cards, the characters later branched out into toys in 1982 and were also introduced in their first television special "The land without feelings" in 1983.

• A growing family.
• The TV series was a big step.
• A massive movie moment.
• The movie brought new stories to life.
• They did things backwards.
• There was even a comic book.

The toys were first made as characters on cards in 1981; the original artwork was done by James Lewis. Later, other toys called the Care Bear Cousins were introduced. They also gave way to three animated movies for the cinema in the mid-1980s.

Tenderheart Bear Tenderheart Bear He is generally considered to be the main character, or even the face of the Care Bears franchise. Tenderheart Bear's belly badge is a large red heart, symbolizing his kindness. Tenderheart also has the ability to give new Care Bears members their own belly badges.

The Care Bears are a very successful toy franchise from the 1980s. Over forty million of these stuffed teddy bears, made with a variety of colours, were sold from 1983 to 1987. Each Bear had a name, a job, and a symbol tied to it. For example, Funshine Bear helps people wake up, and has a sun on his stomach.

Bears are one of the most intelligent land animals in North America. They have the largest and most complex brains compared to other land mammals their size and they rely on this brain for a number of behaviors. Bears are among the most beloved wild animals.

A bear typically lives up to 25 years in the wild. A bear can live up to 50 years when kept in captivity. During the winter a bear can hibernate for up to 100 days. Bears prefer to eat younger plants, and their diet typically consists of shoots, saplings, seeds and nuts.
