The first seeds for Imperfect Produce were planted by Ben Simon, a food waste warrior since his college days when he founded the Food Recovery Network as a means of connecting local hunger-fighting nonprofits with unconsumed cafeteria food that would have otherwise ended up in his school's dumpster.
