Development of Despicable Me 2 began following the unexpected financial success of Despicable Me (2010). In June 2011, Universal announced that the sequel would be released on July 3, 2013. Chris Meledandri, CEO of Illumination Entertainment, confirmed in February 2012 that they had started working on the film.

Gru's despicable, unfeeling ways are soon challenged as he can't help but fall for the little tykes and their loving ways and big eyes. The themes of this film include the capacity for change, loyalty, and finding people to care about.

Minions is a funny animated movie that will delight children and adults. It features characters first seen in Despicable Me. This movie is most suitable for children aged over eight years, because there are violent scenes involving guns, bombs, grenades, and explosions. There are also some scary characters.

What is it rated? The MPAA gave the film a rating of PG for “action and rude humor.” Yes, there's lot of action, including many scenes of the Minions getting their early masters, including a T-Rex and a caveman, killed. The violence is all very cartoonish, though. The rude humor is pretty subtle.
