The story is about two sisters, two princesses Elsa and Anna. In terms of Colour Types, Elsa is either a Cool/True Winter or a Bright/Clear Winter and Anna is either a Warm/True Autumn or a Warm/True Spring. At the beginning of Frozen, right before and after the coronation, Elsa wears Deep/Dark Winter colours.

Elsa's clothes are designed to follow her character's journey. She begins in stiff clothes, fully covered, and always with gloves. This reflects her fear of her own power and the way in which she closes herself off from everyone around her, including her sister.

She is diplomatic and tries to help her subjects with their problems. On the other hand, Elsa's fear of herself led to several other problems, like her anxiety and overprotectiveness. Elsa constantly fears rejection from others and has always wanted to find the source of her powers.

Elsa possesses the magical ability to conjure and manipulate ice and snow. Elsa can manifest and shape various structures made of ice and snow or cold phenomena with the abilities she was born with, from snow flurries to blizzards. Most of her powers are unleashed via her hands and controlled by her emotions.

Perhaps the most obvious message in Frozen is that it's good to be courageous. Elsa fleeing her home to live on her own was bold; Anna following her was even more so. Having a feisty streak can be a very good thing!

The four symbols represent water, earth, wind, and fire, and those spirits rule over the Enchanted Forest. "Frozen 2" codirector and writer Jennifer Lee says the source of Elsa's magic was a jumping off point for discussions around the story for the sequel.
