2023 Ford Escape - Specs & Features

The trim lineup has been revamped for 2023 with Ford ditching the long-running S, SE, SEL and Titanium configurations. The base Escape is now called Active while the trim is Platinum. New for 2023 is the addition of the ST-Line package starting at $995 over the Active with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbo engine.

Since both 2022 and 2023 Escape offer the same powerful engine options, the main difference becomes cosmetic and updating of technology. The 2023 Escape has larger infotainment screens with better software, with a more modern dash design.

However, the 2023 Ford Escape hasn't fared much better, either. In January, The Blue Oval built a total of 3,901 2023 Ford Escape models, followed by 494 in February, making for a grand total of 4,395 units year-to-date.

What's New for 2023? Ford's heavy-duty pickup truck is new from the tires up for the 2023 model year and gets revitalized engines in addition to its new looks. Under the hood, the 7.3-liter V-8 gets a revised air intake and refined tuning, and there's an all-new 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 diesel engine.

Owners reported more problems with vehicle controls and with infotainment. Unfortunately, Ford branded vehicles contributed to its below average ranking, coming in at 201 problems per 100 vehicles, or a whopping 34 additional problems on average than 2022.

Ford has given the Escape an attractive new front end for 2023, complete with a wider grille that features the brand's ovoid logo. The hood and front bumper have also been massaged and a host of new wheel designs dress up the side view.

These include fully redesigned versions of the Ford Ranger midsize truck and the Ford Super Duty heavy-duty truck. We are also expecting the Blue Oval to unveil the long-awaited Raptor R, and we may just see the leaked Bronco Hybrid and Bronco Sport Hybrid join Ford's lineup of fuel-efficient SUVs.
