Licorice Pizza was a Los Angeles record store chain that inspired the title of Paul Thomas Anderson's 2021 film of the same name. The term is a colloquial expression for vinyl records, comparing them to the color of licorice and the shape of a pizza.

Like I said, "Licorice Pizza" is truly remarkable at setting a scene. I felt like I was back in time and nothing ever broke that illusion. I was also extremely impressed by the acting performances from newcomers (at least to the big screen) Hoffman & Haim.

By definition, Paul Thomas Anderson's “Licorice Pizza”is a romantic comedy, but I don't want to give you the wrong idea. Yes, it's often laugh-out-loud funny and unreservedly romantic, but it moves through its story with no allegiance to convention.

Set in the 70s in the San Fernando Valley, the film received good reviews from critics as well as several awards and nominations including AACTA International Awards, AFI Awards, Atlanta Film Critics Circle, etc. Licorice Pizza was shot in Los Angeles, California, United States.

Licorice Pizza is many things: a sun-soaked paean to 1970s LA; an earnest exploration of first love; a joyfully juvenile tribute to screwball cinema; a silly and voyeuristic behind-the-scenes slice of Tinseltown.

Nowhere in the world is licorice as popular as in the Netherlands. There are other places where they like licorice: in Scandinavia, they like to eat it; in England, they like Liquorice Allsorts; and the Italians enjoy pure licorice root extract. But, it's the Netherlands that is the champion.

Set in 1970s California, it tells the story of 15-year-old Gary, who falls for a 25-year-old woman named Alana. As they work together on Gary's crackpot business ventures, the pair grow closer, and the film ends with a kiss between the two.
