The true story is that Hogancamp was beaten to the brink of death by five men outside a bar one night. He was in a coma for nine days and in the hospital for 40. Hogancamp's fictional town - which is set in Belgium during World War II - features Nazi soldiers to represent his attackers.
He calls that town Marwencol, blending the names Mark, Wendy, and Colleen. Hogancamp was initially discovered by photographer David Naugle, who documented and shared his story with Esopus magazine.

The film never manages its tonal shifts that well and the intimate story it is trying to craft that focuses on a man desperately trying to cling to stability and preaching acceptance of the outsider never comes through. When Robert Zemeckis makes a bad film, it's always an interesting failure.

Revived by paramedics, Mark had suffered brain damage and physical injuries so severe even his own mother didn't recognize him. After nine days in a coma and 40 days in the hospital, Mark was discharged with little memory of his previous life.
Hogie defies her and says he is free from her power. Meyer tries to shoot Hogie but instead shoots Deja, causing her to blast herself into the future and also causing the Nazis to die. Nicol also turns out to be alive. Mark returns to the courthouse with his friends there to support him.
But the movie's fictitious band, Hello Peril, was arguably the best reveal. Fronted by Park's character Marcus, Hello Peril was authentically local and flat-out good - like you'd-pay-to-see-them-in-real-life good.

Dybbuk lacked the exploration of the story in depth, the way Ezra did. In my opinion Dybbuk is a good attempt and manages at most parts to stand with the original, but short runtime and few moments that felt quick and unexplained was a downer for Dybbuk. My Rating : 6/10.
