It's the name Ford gives its lineup of heavy-duty trucks. Super Duty trucks are designed for towing, hauling, plowing, and off-road driving.

The "six-seven" has proven itself to be a good engine in the near-decade it has been around. There are three generations of the powerplant: 2011-2014 (First), 2015-2019 (Second), and the Third-gen torque monster (1,050 lb-ft) found in 2020-2021 F-Series trucks.

The available Power Stroke 6.7-liter turbo-diesel V-8 produces 400 hp and a massive 800 pounds-feet of torque at 1,600 rpm, making it the logical choice for serious towing and hauling. The Power Stroke V-8 burns regular diesel fuel or a blend of up to 20 percent biodiesel.

And no product line embodies Ford's commitment to American production than Ford F-Series, the best-selling trucks in the U.S. for 46 straight years. Approximately 11,000 UAW hourly workers – more than 9,000 at Kentucky Truck Plant and approximately 1,800 at Ohio Assembly Plant – assemble the Ford F-Series Super Duty.

After years of production, the 6.7L Power Stroke has proven it can storm past the 200,000-mile mark with few repairs. Provided you adhere to Ford's recommended service intervals, there is no reason this engine won't see 300,000 or even 400,000 miles. Of special concern is making sure the CP4.

Mexico The 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 is Ford's first diesel motor for its F-Series pickups to be developed entirely in-house after three decades partnering with the contract engine manufacturer. It will be built at Ford's plant in Mexico.

The available 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel features strong block, cylinder heads, connector rods and bearings, plus forged-steel pistons, which means 475 hp and 1050lb-ft of torque at 1600 rpm. It produces maximum horsepower at 2,600 RPM.

In fact, the truck we tested was between three- and nine-tenths quicker than its predecessor in virtually all of our acceleration metrics. Along with finishing the quarter-mile in 14.1 seconds at 97 mph, the F-250 hit 90 mph in 11.9 seconds (1.2 ticks quicker than before).

Ford has confirmed that, despite significant ventures and investment into electrification and a growing EV family, its line-up will continue to feature petrol and diesel engines – indefinitely.

Ford's F-Series pickups are the most popular truck in America, and Ford trucks have a reputation for reliability. Like with the Duramax and Cummins engines, these engines can often last up to 500,000 miles. However, anything over 350,000 miles is usually considered high mileage for a Powerstroke engine.

The 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel I6 offers the highest MPG at 16-21, while the 6.4L HEMI V8 and 6.4L High Output HEMI V8 offer 13-18 and 12-16 MPG, respectively. All engine options provide plenty of power for towing and hauling, so you can choose the one that best meets your needs.
