It competes directly with the Jeep Wrangler as both a two-door and a four-door (hardtop) convertible. From 1965 to 1996, the Ford Bronco was manufactured by Ford at its Michigan Truck Plant in Wayne, Michigan, where it also manufactures the sixth-generation version.

125-miles per hour Powertrain. Under the hood, you'll find a 2.0-liter turbocharged Ecoboost engine putting out 250-horses and 277-pound feet of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic with shift paddles and together they take you to 60-miles per hour in a swift 5.7 seconds and it will reach a top speed of 125-miles per hour.

Developed as an off-road vehicle (ORV), the Bronco was intended as a competitor for the Jeep CJ-5, International Harvester Scout and Toyota Land Cruiser.

Donald Frey and Lee Iacocca, the same great minds who designed the Ford Mustang, designed the Bronco as an off-road vehicle that could compete with the Jeep CJ. Originally the Bronco was very small, much like the CJ, though it came in three different body styles.

Off-road ready. The Ford Bronco for sale is built for off-road adventure and all of us. This means they are standard equipped with off-road capabilities, technological amenities, and exterior designs. Although tons of off-road equipment is included, there are plenty of accessories and upgrades too.

It comes from the Spanish broncos, which means rough. American cowboys borrowed the lingo from their Mexican counterparts to describe untrained or partially trained horses. Originally, cowboys probably used the term to refer to breaking wild horses, but today's broncos are not feral.

With a base price around $47,000, the Badlands Bronco sits roughly in the middle of Ford's range, thanks to a few performance and interior upgrades. In my review unit, the upgrades were a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine producing 330 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque, and an optional 10-speed automatic transmission.
