So washing a new cotton or linen blanket in cold water before using it and then drying it on low heat should reduce the amount of shrinkage later on, if you need to use hot water. I do this at least once (and sometimes two or three times) before I use any new blanket, in case I need to disinfect it after testing.

Place the stuffed animal in a mesh laundry bag, zippered pillowcase or pillowcase with the ends tied for added protection against wear and tear. We recommend using the Delicate, Hand Wash or Gentle cycle setting on your washing machine, along with cold water to help keep colors from fading.

You can machine wash your soft blanket but throwing it in with the rest of your clothing runs the risk of turning firm in the process! Instead, wash your soft blanket alone and set your washer's dial on the delicate/gentle cycle in cold water.

Price. Throw blankets made from more natural materials like wool, cashmere, cotton, and hemp, among others, tend to have a higher price than those made from synthetics. As expected, cashmere blankets can cost a pretty penny, but may also be more than worth it if they're intelligently crafted and well taken care of.
