It is also the first feature film in history to combine such a large amount of traditional cartoon animation, live action and three-dimensional computer graphics. Space Jam stars sports superstar Michael Jordan as well as Bugs Bunny, the Looney Tunes, Wayne Knight, Theresa Randle.

After a few weeks into filming, Nance left the project; Lee was hired to replace him in July 2019. Production wrapped in September 2019. Space Jam: A New Legacy was released in the United States on July 16, 2021 (except for Australia where it was pushed to November due to the COVID-19 pandemic), by Warner Bros.

In it, he says every great movie has a moral premise. I clearly saw a moral premise in Space Jam: A New Legacy. The moral premise? When you try to conform others to be like you, you will push them away and relationships will be damaged.

Believe in yourself and have some fun. One of the few certainties in life is that you will be faced with challenges. While some will naturally be more serious than others, everything's easier if you find ways to infuse a little fun.

Why is it called "Space Jam"? Wells the space is because the threat is from outer space. It also has the sense of “out if this world". And a “jam" is a basketball term referring to a dunk.

The film follows Jordan as he is brought out of retirement by the Looney Tunes characters to help them win a basketball match against invading aliens intent on enslaving them as amusement park attractions.

It was a box office success, grossing over $250 million worldwide to become the highest-grossing basketball film of all time until 2022 and the tenth-highest-grossing film of 1996.

“Space Jam: A New Legacy,” which stars James alongside the Looney Tunes, brought in an estimated $31.6 million in its North America opening this weekend. That exceeded industry expectations, which projected the film to bring in closer to $20 million for its debut.

By the time the finished film hit theaters in November 1996, Jordan had reestablished himself as the best basketball player in the world and an NBA champion. Space Jam marked another feather in his cap, as it went on to earn $230 million globally, launch a hit soundtrack and generate $1.2 billion in merchandise sales.

Michael returns home in time for a baseball game and Bugs falls in love with Lola as they share a kiss. Michael resumes his career of basketball in 1995 and Bill retires. Michael gives the talent and strength back to the NBA using the Nedrlucks' basketball, and the film ends.

Because both worlds of reality and animation are explored here, Space Jam has the luxury of being a film that can go beyond traditional boundaries of a sports film, and the Looney Tunes are no better characters to incite such zaniness.

Yes, Space Jam: A New Legacy is not as good as the original. Sequels rarely are better. However, the nostalgia we all wanted with a Space Jam sequel just wasn't there. Michael Jordan would've been great, but we got Lebron James; a product of the times and his popularity with younger audiences.
