Loft is the primary difference between fairway woods. 3-Woods are lower lofted options (our standard loft is 15°, and we also offer a 14° Rocket model for added distance), while 5-woods start at 19°. As you may guess, the added loft is beneficial for getting the ball airborne with greater ease.

The performance differences The 5-wood, thanks to design and technology, will hit the ball further than both the 5-hybrid and 5-iron. The more prominent face can flex more at impact, returning more energy to the ball for more ball speed and distance.

The pros are using hybrids regularly, and many start their iron sets with a 6-iron and carry four hybrids in their bag (except for some of the high clubhead speed players such as Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson). But that may not be the right choice for every golfer.
