Lee Marshall was a successful commercial actor who lent his voice to some of the most memorable campaigns in the 90s and early 2000s. Born on November 28, 1949, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Marshall first began his career in radio broadcasting before transitioning into voiceover work.
Marshall is perhaps best known for his work as the voice of Tony the Tiger in countless Frosted Flakes commercials. He maintained his performance as the famous mascot for more than two decades, entertaining both children and adults alike. His voice became synonymous with the brand and his contribution was essential in establishing Tony the Tiger as one of the most iconic spokesmen of all time.
Beyond Frosted Flakes, Marshall's talent was sought after by many companies. He was a regular on Disney Channel commercials, including Toy Story and Hercules, as well as a pitchman for Budweiser, Kellogg's Pop Tarts, and even the WWE.
Marshall's deep, rich voice and impeccable timing made him a joy to listen to, and his talent for putting on different voices made him incredibly versatile. He was a true chameleon, able to embody any and all of the characters he was hired to play, and his performances made already great commercials even better.
Sadly, Marshall passed away on April 26, 2014, at the age of 64. However, his contributions to the world of advertising will forever be remembered and celebrated. He left a lasting legacy in the industry and his voice will always be remembered as dynamite in a small package.
