Who was Paul Revere?
Paul Revere (1734-1818) was an American silversmith, engraver, and patriot who played a key role in the American Revolution. He is known for his famous "midnight ride" to warn colonists that British troops were marching towards Lexington and Concord on April 18, 1775. Apart from this, he was also a highly influential member of the Sons of Liberty and played a pivotal role in organizing the Boston Tea Party.
Revere was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and became a successful silversmith and engraver. He was also involved in other industries, including ironworking and copper-rolling. Revere married twice and had 16 children. After the American Revolution, he continued to work as a silversmith and became increasingly involved in political activities, serving as a delegate to the Massachusetts state legislature and as one of the organizers of the state's ratification convention for the US Constitution.
