Gramercy Pictures was an American film production and distribution company that was founded by PolyGram in 1992. The company was based in Los Angeles, California, and specialized in bringing independent films and documentaries to theaters, as well as distributing foreign films in the United States.

Throughout its history, Gramercy Pictures released many successful films, including "Dead Man Walking," "Four Weddings and a Funeral," and "Fargo." The company's focus on independent films and smaller productions made it a prominent player in the film industry. Gramercy's success attracted interest from many larger companies, leading to its acquisition by Universal Studios in 1999.

Despite the acquisition, Gramercy continued to release independent and foreign films under its own label and through its partnership with Universal Studios. However, in 2015, Universal Studios closed down the company, electing to fold Gramercy's operations into its own distribution network.

Despite no longer being in operation, Gramercy Pictures will always be remembered for its dedication to independent and foreign films, as well as its important role in bringing these works to a wider audience.
